West Coast Adventure

My daughter graduated high school and will leave next month for college 1,400 miles away. And since I celebrated a milestone birthday this month, we decide that instead of our annual mother-daughter trip to Seaside, Oregon, we will do a road trip all the way down the west coast from Seattle to Los Angeles, including Seaside as one of our stops. A total of 1,300 miles down the coast, but we will take 8 days to get to Long Beach, CA, then spend some time in Southern California before making our way back home.

Here is our itinerary:

  • 2 nights in Seaside, OR (4 hour drive from Seattle)
  • 1 night in Brookings, OR (southern most town on the Oregon coast, 7 hour drive from Seaside)
  • 2 nights in San Francisco, CA (7 hour drive from Brookings)
  • 1 night in Cambria, CA (on the coast south of San Simeon, 4 hour drive from San Francisco – we went Hwy 101 because Hwy 1 was closed)
  • 1 night in Santa Monica, CA (4 hour drive from Cambria)
  • 2 nights in Avalon on Catalina Island (ferry from Long Beach)
  • 3 nights in Anaheim (to be at Disneyland on it’s 70th birthday)
  • 2 nights in Studio City (to be in walking distance of Universal Studios, about an hour drive from Anaheim)
  • 1 night in Paso Robles (3 hour drive from Studio City)
  • Instead of stopping between Paso Robles and home, we decided to drive straight through in one day, a 15 hour drive

We will make a post for every day and share recommendations on stops, restaurants and outings in future posts.
